Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine, a singer-composer who is known for his distinct mix of soul gospel jazz R&B and R&B. Avery Sunshine's performances have been on Broadway and at festivals in Europe, as well as performing at Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has been born Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta however, her roots lie in Chester Pennsylvania. There she started to pursue a musical career as a singer and pianist at the church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training in the Atlanta's R&B scene. In 2005, she was the drummer in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, contacted her to serve as the choir leader of this theatrical production. Sunshine came to national attention during four daily shows at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
